Scalibor collars for dogs

Scalibor collars are available in two sizes - one 48cm and the other 65cm. They can be used for puppies over 7 weeks of age. The active ingredient is "Deltamethrin", which is a pyrethroid ester insecticide. This type of insecticide can cause Feline Permethrin Toxicosis in cats. Please note: Cats that have close contact with dogs wearing Scalibor collars may be at risk.

Scalibor dog collars.

Scalibor collars control tick and sand fly (the vector of canine Leishmaniasis) infestations for up to 6 months. However, single bites may occasionally occur and consequently disease transmission cannot be completely excluded.

They are odourless and remain active when the dog becomes wet. As the collar exerts its full effect after 1 week, it should be applied 1 week before animals are likely to become exposed to infestation. While occasional contact with water does not reduce the effectiveness of the collar, its Deltamethrin is harmful to fish and other aquatic organisms. Dogs must therefore be prevented from swimming for the first 5 days of wearing the collar, and have the collar removed before any subsequent swims. Collars should also be removed before the dog is shampooed.

This product may be used during pregnancy and lactation.
